I’ve read Willa Cather since I was a child. She was one of my mother’s favorites, particularly because of its Nebraska locations. I know and understand her way of thinking and being quite well.
Even though my mother wasn’t adopted until she was 9, she was never aware of anyone other than her biological mother as a pioneer. As a Canadian immigrant, her story, while interesting, wasn’t as unique as one would think, as it happens.
I hadn’t realized until recently that pioneer women in Canada needed to have their voices heard yet. I have several books and websites now. I have more to soak in.
I am delighted!
