Special Birthday Today
Maria de los Ángeles Alvariño González was born on this day in 1916.
She was a pioneer in marine research, probably the first female marine biologist recognized in the field. She was noted globally for being the first scientist to be aboard Spanish and British exploration ships and for being the foremost authority on plankton research.
And she said this:
“Creativity and imagination are the basic ingredients for the scientists, as in the arts, because science is an art.”
What a great lady! We should all at least Wiki her and read further.
