Remembering Mr. Eberly

As I was growing up, baseball meant a lot to me. It still does today. This is why. Mr. Eberly was a friend of my father’s. More than once I remember them having coffee together at Daddy’s shop. Many times the A’s bus was in that shop for maintenance. They were good and close friends.

They continue in my hometown to commemorate the impact Mr. Eberly had on our community. They named the ball field after him, and 4th of July events surround that impact. Michael Tackett wrote a book about him.

We lived golden lives back then. I miss both Daddy and Merl.
