Social Media Is Extending Everyone’s Adolescence

Yes, indeed! The unabashed rudeness of the multitude of the opinionated on social media – and everyone’s passion to be The Popular One – can only be quashed by walking away. That’s what I did, and I am not sorry in the least. This is as close as I ever want to come to regressing 50+years like so many others.

It’s not because they’re stupid. There are some quite brilliant people with high IQs who regress viciously. They lose focus. They absorb misinformation much the same as developing an addiction early in life – and feed it continually and unchecked.

I’ll have to be honest. Even when I was 12, I didn’t understand everyone’s need to be part of the “in” crowd. I was comfortable without that sort of supposedly necessary ego boost.

This article describes it.

This wasn’t the plan for the World WideWeb originally. This is just how it turned out in the 21st Century. Like with everything else in my life, it’s a thing I tried, but found myself moving on.

Am I sorry? Not in the least.
